1- To get Visa on arrival

3- Purchasing a ready-to-use, Sim Card

You can purchase a SIM Card with assigned telephone number just outside of the arrival terminal at the airport or from any of many phone shops scattered across town everywhere.

It can be purchased for about 1.5 $ US and sometimes free. Valid passport and Visa are required.

4- Banks and ATMs

Banks in Cambodia provide currency and travels check exchange, credits card advances, telegraphic transfers and all regular banking services. Most banks are open from 8:00 tp 3:00 or 4:00pm for some; Mondays through Fridays. Some are open Saturday mornings until 11:30 am.

ATMs, located all across town. are active 24/7 and accept Visa and MasterCard. The machines dispense US dollars as well as Cambodian riel depending on one's preference.

At the time of printing, the average rate of exchange is 4,000 riel to 1USD.

5- Money Exchange

Cambodian riel (KHR) is the official currency. However, the US dollars are in common use. Most businesses in the country, especially hotels, restaurants, Airlines, markets and souvenir shops actually set their prices in US dollars. Change of less than one dollar is given in riel. Do inspect the bills when accepting money. Marred riel is acceptable tender, but the tiniest tear in a large US note renders it unusable in Cambodia.

6- Cash Transfers

"Instant" cash transfers can be done through Western Union or MoneyGram. Ordinary telegraphic transfers are available at all major Banks.

7- Travelers Checks

Travelers checks are accepted at most banks, major hotels and some money changers.

8- Credit Cards

Visa, MasterCard, and ANZ cards are the most widely accepted credit cards in Cambodia. AMEX is accepted at a few places while Diners club at fewer places. Many businesses charge a fee on credi card payment.
